SBS Transit Showcases Innovative A.I. Solutions At Its Inaugural Security Symposium
Among his colleagues, he has an enviable knack of being able to easily spot cuts or signs of tampering of the perimeter metal fences surrounding the depot. With just a glance, nothing significant ever escapes his laser sharp eyes. Meet MARS, a newly minted security officer and the first AI-enabled robotic dog of his kind. At the Seletar Bus Depot, he effortlessly navigates stairs and complex terrains while independently patrolling the perimeter to detect any intrusions, making him an indispensable member of the security team.
Our passengers can also expect a safer and more secure commuting experience with SENTINEL, which will have the capability to monitor large areas and across different levels of our transport hubs. This intelligent security platform consolidates and analyses data from various security modules, including mobile CCTVs and security robots, creating a unified dashboard that provides real-time alerts. This enables security officers to swiftly respond and intervene in a security incident. Uniquely, the modularity of the system allows integration of mobile CCTV cameras that are set up for ad hoc events into its dashboard.
MARS and SENTINEL were some of the security innovations showcased at SBS Transit’s inaugural Security Symposium 2024, where fellow public transport operators, Land Transport Authority and Home Team officers, security experts, and partners, convened to promote dialogue and collaboration on public transport security.
Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour and delivered a speech underscoring the importance of technological innovation and fostering connections in ensuring a secure and safe commuting environment for all.
Mr Jeffrey Sim, Group CEO of SBS Transit said: “SBS Transit has long recognised the critical importance of ensuring security within our operations. As threats have become more sophisticated, we cannot just keep pace but must stride forward to anticipate and mitigate them. One way of doing so is by embracing technology as a key enabler in our security strategy. Through this inaugural security symposium, we aim to foster meaningful discussions and collaborate on deploying new technologies and solutions to further boost our security measures, mitigate potential threats, and enhance the overall security and safety of our public transport network.”
At the Symposium, SBS Transit also forged new partnerships by inking four Memoranda of Understanding to enhance public transport security operations. The partners are:
- Weston Robot - Collaboration to employ robotics technology to enhance public transport security management;
- Talonz Technologies - Collaboration to deploy digital analytics solutions to strengthen premises security;
- Security Solutions Association of Singapore (SSAS) - Collaboration to deploy advanced robotics and automation technologies to enhance security, efficiency and sustainability in public transport; and
- Temasek Polytechnic - Collaboration to uplift professionalism of public transport security officers.
