The SBS Transit Scholarship complements existing industry scholarship programmes, enhancing our efforts to attract and nurture talent in the public transport sector. This initiative reflects our commitment to developing expertise within Singapore’s workforce.
Each year, one SBS Transit Scholarship recipient will be selected from the cohort of Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) and Singapore Rail Industry Scholarship (SGRail) recipients. To be eligible, you must have an outstanding academic record, demonstrate strong leadership qualities, and possess a genuine passion for public transport. Shortlisted SgIS and SGRail recipients will be invited for an interview.
The Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) is an undergraduate scholarship for Singapore Citizens who aspire to contribute to leading organisations in key strategic sectors. Offered in partnership with the Ministry of Education, this scholarship allows you to kickstart your career in public transport at different stages of your university education, both locally and overseas.
Scholarship Schemes:
- Full-Term (Local): For those about to begin full-time undergraduate studies at a local autonomous university.
- Mid-Term (Local): For those currently pursuing full-time undergraduate studies at a local autonomous university.
- Mid-Term (Overseas): For those currently pursuing full-time undergraduate studies at an overseas university.

The Singapore Rail Industry Scholarship (SGRail) develops engineering talent for the dynamic rail industry. Offered in partnership with the Land Transport Authority, Public Transport Operators, and the National Transport Workers’ Union, this scholarship provides exposure to emerging areas such as data analytics, robotics, and automation to meet the evolving needs of the rail sector.
Through different professional career tracks and career development programmes, you will have opportunities to expand your leadership skills, develop specialised expertise, and grow as a rail professional.
